Samuel Whyte, a dedicated road safety activist, received well-deserved recognition at the National Drivers and Transport Conference, held at the Accra City Hall on Saturday.

The event, themed, ‘Integrating Road Safety for Sustainable Economic Growth,’ brought together esteemed personalities and stakeholders in the field of transportation.

Samuel Whyte, known for his relentless voluntary efforts in advocating for the adherence to driving rules and regulations by motorists, was honoured during the conference. The citation of honour was presented in acknowledgment of his continuous commitment to promoting road safety in Ghana.

Expressing his joy and gratitude in an interview, Whyte stated, “I feel honoured and privileged to be amid such high-profile personalities. I was there as a panel member to contribute towards the integration of road safety, and little did I know I was going to receive a citation.

“I was amazed, and yes, that’s a motivation for me to keep educating the public on the importance of road safety through the ‘Samuel Whyte Foundation’. It’s a great honour.”

The conference featured a panel discussion focusing on ‘Integrating Road Safety for Sustainable Economic Growth’. Distinguished guests included Ing. David Adonteng, the Director-General for the National Road Safety Authority, D.O 1 Evans Owusu from the Ghana National Fire Service, Regional Safety Officer, and various other stakeholders.

In addition to Samuel Whyte, other notable figures were honoured for their impactful contributions to road safety advocacy. Accra Mayor, Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, Ing. David Adonteng, and several road safety advocates received citations acknowledging their efforts in promoting road safety across Ghana.

The National Drivers and Transport Conference was expertly organised by DriveX Company, and spearheaded by Mr. Dennis Opoku. The event served as a platform for meaningful discussions, acknowledging the crucial role of road safety in the sustainable economic growth of the nation.
