Robbers Shoot Cop Dead

Items found at the crime scene by the police

A POLICE Constable has been shot dead by a group of armed robbers, who surprisingly, didn’t take away any of his personal belongings.

The incident occurred last Friday at a spot between Miminaso Number 2 and Nyamebekyere on Ejura to Nkoranza road.

The late Constable Moses Konee was said to be wearing mufti and on his way to a funeral when he bumped into the robbers.

The robbers, reportedly, subjected Konee, who was riding a motorbike, to a search, clearly to rob him of his money and other belongings.

Initially, the robbers thought Konee was a civilian, but in the course of the search, they found Konee’s Police ID Card on him.

The hoodlums instantly shot Konee, who is stationed at Kwame Danso, and fled the scene without taking away anything from him.

This has raised concerns that perhaps the trigger-happy hoodlums, who are on the run, killed him because he was a policeman.

A top police source told DAILY GUIDE that Konee bumped into the robbers, who were then on a robbery spree in the community.

The hoodlums then signaled Konee to stop the motorbike and he obliged as they (robbers) subjected him to a thorough search to rob him.

The source said the hoodlums, upon seeing Konee’s ID Card, became peeved for no reasons and shot him dead.

According to him, police personnel quickly rushed to the scene upon tip off, but the robbers had absconded already.

The police, the source said, found nine spent shells, an Itel Mobile, a pair of slippers, beads, a cutlass, motorbike ignition key, Konee’s Police ID Card and a cash of GH¢10 at the scene.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicated that the police have apprehended one suspect in connection with the killing of Constable Konee.

The police are also said to have intensified their search to arrest the other runaway hoodlums to face the law.
