Rosenbauer Int. Delivers Fire Tender To VRA

In pursuance of business sustainability and the protection of the recently retrofitted Kpong Generating Station (KGS) against any form of fire, the Volta River Authority (VRA) has procured a modern fire tender for the purpose.

It is one of the best fire tenders in the world, designed with high end specifications and built with the latest technology by Rosenbauer International, Austria.

The tender is fitted with a 6,000 litre water and 500 litre foam holding tanks and a pressure of 10 bar, the pump can deliver 3,500 litres of water or foam per minute.

Chris Torkornoo, Country Representative of Rosenbauer International and the Chief Executive of Christork Industries Limited, Ghana, handing over the fire tender stated that they had earlier supplied three similar tenders, which are still in good working condition at VRA’s Thermal Plants (TTPS, TTPC and KTPS).

He further disclosed that, “the current tender is designed to perform better than the previous three (3) because it has higher and better specifications and most current technology in the world that can deliver at the speed of a Rolls Royce jet engine.”

Mr. Torkonoo added that Rosenbauer International is a well acclaimed company with five factories located on different continents and known for building the best fire tenders globally.

He said as part of the procurement process, a functional and maintenance training is being scheduled soon for staff of the VRA who would be operating and maintaining the tender.

He later handed over the truck keys and the owner’s manual to Ing. George J.K. Appiah, a Manager in the Procurement Department of the VRA.

Present were Isaac Doe, Traffic Officer and Daniel Kpajal, the Fire Officer of the Technical Services Department as well as Isaac Dede-Bamfo, Procurement Department, John Chobbah, Environment and Sustainable Development Department, Augustine Asiamah, Sefah Asare and Samuel Teye Mensah all of the Technical Services Department, Jerome Doe, Thermal Generation Department and Joseph Afriyie Nyankom of the Ghana National Fire Service.
