Salisu Advances Recovery After ACL Surgery, Returns To Gym Training

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has taken a significant step forward in his recovery after undergoing surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered earlier this year.

French club AS Monaco confirmed that the 26-year-old centre-back tore the ACL in his left knee during a league fixture against Olympique Lyonnais in January.

Following a successful operation, Salisu has now resumed controlled gym work as part of his rehabilitation programme, focusing on rebuilding strength and mobility as he works toward full match fitness.

As part of ongoing support for injured national team players, Black Stars team doctor Prince Pambo paid a visit to Salisu in Monaco to monitor his progress and encourage him through the recovery phase.

Before the injury setback, Salisu played an important role for Ghana during the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, making seven appearances and scoring two goals from defence. His performances made him a key part of the national team setup.

Despite the positive progress in his rehabilitation, uncertainty remains over whether Salisu will be fit in time for the upcoming World Cup tournament, which is scheduled to kick off on June 11. Medical staff are expected to continue closely assessing his recovery timeline in the coming months.

Ghana’s Black Stars are set to begin their Group L campaign against Panama, followed by challenging fixtures against England and Croatia.

Salisu’s recovery is being closely followed by both club and country, with hopes that the defender can make a strong return once fully cleared.
