Sammi Awuku in a pose with the Beauticians Association leadership
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Akropong Constituency in the Eastern Region, Sammi Awuku, has engaged the artisans, beauticians, and dressmakers associations in the constituency to listen to their concerns, and take measures to resolve them.
Over the weekend at the engagement, he donated 52 sewing machines, 50 hair dryers, and an amount of GH¢50,000 to the Ghana Beauticians, Tailors and Dressmakers Associations respectively in the area.
The engagement forms part of his extensive stakeholder engagement with various groups in the constituency, addressing their concerns and providing support.
Already, he has met with the other stakeholders, such as the Leadership of the Education and Health directorates, to listen to their challenges and address them.
Aside from the donation, he urged the groups to form welfare associations aiming to create an economic environment that motivates young people to pursue entrepreneurship in the artisanal sector.
The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, Sammi Awuku’s approach aligns with the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s belief in entrepreneurship and empowering those at the lower rungs of the ladder.
Sammi Awuku, who believes in vocational training and entrepreneurship, said he would continue to support and encourage his constituents if elected as a Member of Parliament, to ensure an economically enabling environment for all.
According to him, arts and entrepreneurship will be a key area the next NPP administration will be focusing on, to ensure an economic environment for all.
“Today, hundreds of people, including beauticians and tailors, have responded to my call, and I’m confident that this partnership with them will lead to a brighter future. I believe in vocational training, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment for all. I am committed to continuing this work if elected as a Member of Parliament, and I am confident that together, we can create a brighter future where the young people can be trained,” he stated.
“As I reiterated, the next NPP administration led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will prioritise vocational training and provide substantial support to professionals in those fields. Your vote for Dr. Bawumia on December 7 will secure a brighter future for you and your children,” he stressed.
In their appreciation remarks, the associations commended Sammi Awuku for his continuous support and encouragement to ensure his constituents are economically empowered.
However, they vowed to vote massively for him to become the next Member of the Parliament for the area, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 7 general election.
