Rapper Sarkodie has stated that he is not super proud of his diss song to actress Yvonne Nelson titled, “Try Me.”

Speaking in an interview on the Way Up With Angela in the US first time since the song was released, he indicated that he could have handled the song differently.

“Try Me” released on Wednesday, June 28 is a response to Yvonne Nelson’s revelations in her memoir titled, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.”
The celebrated actress detailed how she got pregnant for Sarkodie who drove her to a health facility to terminate the pregnancy and left her there.

In, ‘Try Me’, Sarkodie confirmed the abortion but went on to slut-shame Yvonne. He was criticized for being too harsh on the song.

When the host of the Way Up with Angela show asked him about the harsh nature of the track and the contents therein, he responded that he was not entirely proud of it and the reactions it had generated.

“It is a sensitive conversation,” he said of the abortion episode, adding “The reason why I didn’t do any media or press thing around it is because I might lose how I will like to present what I will like to present, what I feel about it.”

“With this situation, I am not going to sit here and say I am super proud of everything. It is just in the moment how I felt, whether being my truth, there should have been a way you could have said it, that is why I don’t like to speak about it,” he added.

He continued to reveal that the song was recorded without the prior knowledge of his team.

They were not aware of the recording because he went to the studio alone.

Also, he claimed the song leaked after he sent it to three people, but he doesn’t want to accuse them of leaking the song.

“It was in the middle of the night, around 2am and I see on Twitter it’s gone crazy and people have put out the record. I have no idea because I didn’t give it to…

“I did it just to hold on to it, then when it came out, I was just like let me put it out,” he added.
