Shatta Wale Fights Bulldog

L to R: Shatta Wale, Black Sherif, Bulldog

Shatta Wale and his ex-manager, Bulldog, have been throwing verbal punches at each other over claims that his upcoming album may not do well as that of Black Sherif.

According to Bulldog, born Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’ album which is set to be released in November and Shatta Wale’s  ‘Gift of God’ album cannot attract huge numbers in terms of streams like  Black Sherif’s ‘The Villain I Never Was’ album.

Speaking on Hitz FM, he explained that because Shatta and Sarkodie are not signed to an international record label like Black Sherif, their streams may therefore not be as huge as that of the ‘Kweku The Traveller’ crooner.

The statement, however, did not sit well with Shatta Wale, who responded in an unsavoury tone.

“Eeerrrhhh if Blacko’s album will do better than us kwraaa, we like, and we hear …at the end of the day Ghana wins … F**lish people …”

He went on to further attack Bulldog saying, “all be money matter – you too find something to do and stop that nonsense… MAKE MONEY in your own way [SIC].”

Last Thursday, when Shatta Wale appeared on the ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show with Paul Adom Otchere, Shatta was asked why he was not signed to a label.

He responded in a stuttering manner saying, “That’s why I am saying…” Paul Adom Otchere interrupted him with another question, “Is it that no label wants you?”

He continued, “No that’s why I am saying… No, no, not that no label that even… not that no label doesn’t even want to meet Shatta Wale or something.”

Paul repeated his question in a bid to push for clarity in his response. Shatta Wale’s replied indicating, “What I am saying is, it’s not me. Many artistes in Ghana don’t have labels.”

Bulldog, while reviewing Shatta’s statement on Hitz FM, poked fun at his former artiste.

According to him, after several years of working with the dancehall musician, he never knew he had a speech impediment until he was asked the crucial question.

“I didn’t know Shatta Wale stammered until he was asked by Paul Adom Otchere why he wasn’t on a label.

“Bra Charles, I know you are listening to us. You no dey stammer,” Bulldog said in Pidgin English.

“He [Shatta Wale] went on Paul Adom Otchere’s show to reiterate what I had said, after saying what I said was nonsense. If what I said was nonsense, then what was he doing on Paul’s show, saying the same thing,” Bulldog questioned Shatta.

When the host, Andy Dosty asked him whether he thinks that statement was a hateful comment, he replied: “The only person who thought it was a hateful comment was Shatta Wale himself.”

The conversation stemmed from Black Sherif being signed onto an American record label, Empire —and how the deal contributes to augmenting the artiste’s craft and brand to the rest of the world.

Bulldog believes that Black Sherif’s deal will propel his recently-released album, ‘The Villain I Never Was’ to perform better than Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’ and Shatta Wale’s ‘Gift of God’ albums.

Bulldog added that Ghanaian musicians, like Black Sherif, will triumph when they are signed onto international record labels.
