UK-based Ghanaian event promoter, Alordia, has denied claims that ShattaFest UK oversold tickets, insisting the event never sold more than 10,000 tickets.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session on August 2, 2026, Alordia dismissed allegations that excessive ticket sales caused the crowd crush that forced police to shut down the concert in London.
According to him, organisers could not have sold more than 10,000 tickets because local authorities would not have approved such numbers.
“They didn’t sell more than 10,000 tickets. Do you think the council would allow you to sell more than 10,000 tickets?” he said.
Alordia also refuted claims that the event had been declared sold out, saying neither Akwaaba UK nor Ghana Party in the Park made such an announcement on their official social media pages.
He blamed misinformation on social media for the rumours, urging critics to verify facts before making accusations.
“Go to Akwaaba UK’s page or Party in the Park’s page and check whether we ever posted ‘Sold Out’. Because of social media, everybody just gets up and says whatever they want,” he added.
The promoter further clarified that he was not one of the organisers of ShattaFest UK despite his long-standing association with the event.
He explained that the concert was organised by Akwaaba UK in collaboration with Ghana Party in the Park, while he only provided support as he has done for previous editions.
His remarks come after ShattaFest UK was cancelled on August 1 after police stopped the event at Copthall Playing Fields in London following a crowd crush caused by severe congestion at one of the entrances.
Several attendees reportedly sustained injuries during the incident, prompting police to call off the concert on public safety grounds.
Following the cancellation, Shatta Wale’s management expressed regret over the incident, sympathised with those affected and said it was cooperating with investigations.
