SHS Enrollment Rises To 1.25 Million

 

Enrollment in public senior high schools nationwide has increased from 800,000 to 1,250,000.

Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, announced this to the media at the Information Ministry in Accra on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

According to him, the Free SHS policy contributed immensely to rise in the enrollment.

He stated that there was improvement in WASSCE performance of students in 2020.

According to him, 411 out of 485 students scored 8A1.

He revealed that there has been immense infrastructure expansion at all levels of education .

He reiterated that Government through the Education Ministry procured and distributed 1,190 vehicles (pick ups and buses) to SHSs, District and Regions.

He added that research allowance has been increased by 200%.

The Minister was giving President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Education Agenda: Four Years and Beyond.

He spoke about efforts being made to improve the quality of education in Ghana.

He reiterated that teacher trainee allowance has been restored.
