Six Convicted For Illegal Dumping At Kejetia

The Convicts

Six individuals have been convicted by the Prempeh Assembly District Court in Kumasi for illegally dumping refuse at the Otumfuo Roundabout in Kejetia.

The court, presided over by Her Worship, Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh, on May 11, 2026, found the accused persons guilty after they all pleaded guilty to the sanitation-related offence.

The convicts are Atta Gyamfi, 55; Manuna Ishawu, 24; Veronica Maako, 31; Mariama Iddrisu, 64; Kwadwo Amuzu, 37; and Ebenezer Atakorah, 25.

The court imposed a fine of 100 penalty units on each of them, equivalent to GH¢1,200.00. In default of payment, each was to serve a 10-day jail term.

Five of the convicts paid the fines, while Ebenezer Atakorah failed to do so and has consequently been sentenced to serve the 10-day custodial term.

The offenders were arrested at about 5:30 a.m. on May 11 by Metro Guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) while allegedly dumping waste illegally at the Otumfuo Roundabout.
