Six students of the Offinso Technical Institute (O.T.I) who were rushed to hospital following a violent confrontation between students and suspected Zongo youths have been discharged after receiving treatment.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, on the school’s campus, just hours after Eid prayers by the Muslim community in Offinso.

A teacher of the school, whose name has been withheld, told DAILY GUIDE that the confrontation stemmed from an existing feud between the two groups, which unfortunately escalated into violence.

He said the injured students were initially admitted to the St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase but have since been treated and discharged.

According to him, the chaos led to further disturbances on campus, with several students fleeing the school and currently unaccounted for.

The teacher also alleged that the suspected Zongo youths vandalised parts of the school, including glass windows and doors in both the boys’ and girls’ dormitories, as well as the housemaster’s residence.

He added that a formal complaint has been lodged with the police, while school authorities and Zongo leaders have engaged in discussions aimed at restoring calm and ensuring lasting peace in the area.
