Some CVs being reviewed
THE SNV NETHERLANDS Development Organisation has organised a Curriculum Vitae (CV) Review Clinic in Takoradi to edit the CVs of job seekers and prepare them for the job market.
It was done in collaboration with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE), Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, as well as the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development.
According to the organisation, it is set to organise its second GrEEn Regional Job Fair in the Western Region.
The Job Fair, aimed at matching job seekers to available and sustainable jobs in the region, would take place on November 22, 2022.
SNV Netherlands said since 2020, it has organised 10 job fairs at the district and regional levels in partnership with local assemblies with the aim of providing CV support, career guidance and counselling as well as connecting job seekers to green employers.
President of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, Sherrif Ghali, stated that employers were looking for determined young people who were loyal, teachable and honest.
“Employers are also looking for resilient people and computer literates,” he told the participants.
Gifty Afi Cudjoe, Skills Development Advisor at SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, said the clinic was to prepare the youth for the job market and possibly link the potential employers to youth looking for jobs.
The Western Regional Director of the Labour Department, Elizabeth Acquah, urged stakeholders on the labour market to work in line with the stipulated laws of the land.
She also stressed the need for employees to be more responsible in their day-to-day activities to improve productivity.
Ms. Acquah entreated prospective employees to develop good working relationships, build their capacities and be ready to serve to earn the confidence of employers.
