Mike Quaye, the Speaker of Parliament, has entreated the residents of Dome Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region to vote massively for the President, Nana Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party in the upcoming general election.

According to him, he is very optimistic of defeating their sworn rivals, NDC, in the elections in the quest of securing another term of office.

“Our common purpose is to win election 2020 and nothing else. As we head towards the polls, we should do away with any misunderstanding and fight for a common goal.

“People have been clamouring for ‘4 more for Nana’ but when he wins power he will need people to work with, and so I will entreat everyone to prioritise the 4 more for Nana together with the MP, Adwoa Safo,” he said.

The Speaker said these when he addressed a town hall meeting in the constituency last Sunday. The activity was aimed at uniting the party supporters ahead of the December polls. He also donated cash to support the party activities towards the elections.

He encouraged the supporters to put aside the disagreements which took place during the primaries and rather focus on the political battle with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Member of Parliament for the area, Mrs Sarah Adwoa Safo on her part said their constituency has the highest number of registrants, stressing that “we have a few days to go to the polls, so all hands should be on deck. I believe in the capabilities of this constituency and I’m sure we will give Nana Addo over 120, 000 votes.”

Michael Oquaye Jnr, the High Commissioner to India also donated two boxes of hand sanitisers, 600 pieces of nose masks, 1,400 face shields, five sewing machines, 20,000 flyers, five corn mills and an amount of GH¢ 20,000 to the party.

The constituency, which he described as a special one, demands that a thorough campaign be undertaken.

He charged the constituents to brush aside the NDC and vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo and his MP, Adwoa Safo, after performing so well in their first tenure.

“I will plead with you not to vote skirt and blouse. This is not the time to quarrel, anyone who lost in the primaries should put it aside because we are fighting for a common purpose. We need to unite ourselves and follow the elephant,” he said.

He described the forthcoming election as life and death with the latter being mortuary as promised by the NDC and life as the flagship free SHS.
