The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has commenced the distribution of Daily Rotation Cards to traders following the closure of major markets in the area.
The distribution took place simultaneously at the Takoradi, Sekondi, Kojokrom and Jubilee Park markets from yesterday to the end of today.
The STMA closed down all major markets within the metropolis recently as a preventive measure to halt the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The Public Relations Officer of the STMA, John Laste, said detailed arrangements had been developed in consultation with the leadership of the various commodity traders group in all the markets to avoid overcrowding during the sharing of the cards.
“All traders in these markets are, therefore, directed to contact their leadership for their respective dates, venue and time for the distribution of the cards,” he stated.
“Traders with Red Cards at all the markets would start trading from Thursday, June 4, followed by Yellow or Green on Friday in that order,” he added.
He said only traders with authorized cards would be permitted to do business from Thursday, June 4, and that any trader found selling without the approved cards would be sanctioned.
