Popular reggae and dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla aka Stonebwoy, has revealed plans of staying away from his family for 14 days when he returns homes from the United States of America.
The dancehall artiste, who was on a US tour to entertain his fans as well as promote his musical works on the US market, had to canceled the eight-city tour due to the widespread of the coronavirus.
He did not state whether his decision was based on the advice from the management of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) that musicians who had just returned from those high infection rate countries to engage in the voluntary test exercise and the mandatory self-quarantine of 14 days.
The 2015 BET Award winner and artiste of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Music Award told Hitz FM that the safety of his family was very important to him; and he would not want to imperil their lives until he was certain it was safe to be with them.
He mentioned that he would be in self-quarantine to check whether or not he had contracted the novel coronavirus.
“It is good to take precautions just to make sure everybody is safe. I will go to the countryside…It will be like a vacation for me,” he said.
The ‘Kpoo Keke’ hitmaker, who is expected to tour United Kingdom (UK) later in the year, said he and his team were fine and they were taking the needed precautions not to contract the virus even while they were still in the US.
So far, Ghana has confirmed seven cases of COVID-19 and as part of cautionary measures; President Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, announced the closure of schools and universities and also the ban on public gatherings.
Already, many institutions have responded to the president’s call with churches suspending church services and other activities like weddings and Easter conventions.
