Isaac Sarkodie Boahin
A FOUNDING member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Isaac K. Sarkodie Boahin, has asked the party’s followers busily canvassing support for their preferred presidential aspirants ahead of 2024 to rather channel their energies and resources into supporting President Akufo- Addo to deliver on his mandate.
He said helping the President to forge ahead would rather enhance the chances of the party’s next candidate for the 2024 general election.
He insisted that the chances of whoever succeeded President Akufo-Addo would largely depend on how well the current administration would deliver, adding that there was no need for members of the party to attack one another.
Speaking to the media in an interview in Kintampo over the weekend, Mr. Boahin, believed to be the only surviving NPP Founding Member in Bono East Region, warned that the backbiting in the party could undermine efforts of the party going forward.
Mr. Boahin said the continuous open campaign for certain individuals in the party when the party had not officially opened the books for the contest could lead to divisions and had adverse effects on government machinery.
“At the appropriate time, the leadership of the party will officially announce the modalities for the conduct of the election of party executives – right from the polling station to the national executives – and then afterwards the election of our presidential candidate will follow, so we need to exercise restraint at this moment,” he added.
