The Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, has advised the public to strictly follow the COVID-19 preventive measures to protect and lives.
According to him, institutionalization of the preventive measures is crucial to reduce the spread and rate of infections.
The government announced recently that it was easing restrictions on public gathering to not more that 100 people and also eased restrictions albeit partially on social gathering, including religious activities, funerals and to some extent education.
Dr. Aboagye, who was reacting to concerns about the ease of the restriction, said the health, safety and well-being of the people were considered in drafting the strict protocols through the various stakeholders’ engagements.
“The topmost priority in this COVID-19 fight is to limit the spread of infections, protect and preserve lives,” he added.
He argued that there is no intention to burden churches and mosques with such safety protocols which were jointly developed with their leaders at the various stakeholders’ engagements.
