POLICE WERE called to patrol the Bekwai SDA Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region to help prevent possible clashes of rival students in the school on Saturday.
This was after the rival students, made up of some day students and boarders, clashed violently on Friday evening, which unfortunately resulted in injuries to some of the students.
According to reports, there was a misunderstanding between a day student and a boarding student on Friday afternoon, which eventually led to a fight between them but they were separated.
Later on Friday evening, some day students, allegedly, led some of the townsfolk to the school, ostensibly to violently attack the boarding students. The ensuing skirmishes resulted in injuries to some of the students.
The school authorities quickly stepped in and called the police, who rushed to the school and separated the feuding factions for law and order to be temporarily restored at the school.
However, on Saturday evening, the townsfolk once again stormed the school to unleash mayhem on the boarders but unknown to them, some police personnel were providing security at the school.
According to an eye witness report, the police managed to apprehend one of the community members who had invaded the school campus to attack the boarding students.
Meanwhile, the paper has gathered that five students of the school have been invited by the police for questioning in connection with the clashes as the police are still patrolling the school to avert further clashes.
