Residents of Ampabame No. 1 in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have been left stunned after a popular primary school teacher, Kwame Oduro, was found dead shortly after reportedly stepping out of his home in the early hours of Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The deceased, believed to be in his late 40s, was a teacher at the Ampabame No. 1 Primary School and was reportedly well-known and respected in the community for his dedication to teaching and peaceful disposition.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that Mr. Oduro was at home with his wife when he reportedly stepped outside for reasons that were not immediately known.
When he failed to return after some time, his wife reportedly went in search of him and found him in a distressing condition.
He was subsequently pronounced dead, while his body was conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Although the incident is suspected to be suicide, the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s death remain unclear and are expected to be established through police investigations.
His sudden death has reportedly plunged residents, teachers and pupils into shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Mr. Oduro is survived by his wife and two children.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death to determine exactly what happened.
