The body of the deceased being conveyed from the accident scene
A six-month old pregnant woman was crushed to death by a tipper truck at Sekondi in the Western Region yesterday.
According to the police, at about 1:45 pm, one Emmanual Ayidzi was driving Man Diesel tipper truck with registration number GN 9630-16 belonging to JUSTMOH Construction when the accident happened.
Ayidzi, who was travelling from Sekondi to Justmoh quarry site at Ngyiresia, near Sekondi, lost control of the vehicle upon reaching Residency junction, near Essikado and crushed Elizabeth Nichie, 41, to death.
The deceased, a toll collector of GPRTU, was sitting under a tree by the roadside.
The body of the woman has since been conveyed to the Effia-Nkwanta morgue pending autopsy.
The driver is currently in police custody while the truck has been impounded.
