Tolon NPP supporters demonstrate over DCE nominee
The Regent of Tolon in the Northern Region, Major (rtd) Sulemana Abubakari, has told DAILY GUIDE that his people have rejected the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee Hajia Amama Sayibu.
According to him, he would support the people of Tolon, who have rejected the president’s nominee.
He indicated that the youth in the area, who embarked on a house-to-house campaign in 2016 to enable the party win power, were ignored in the nomination of the DCE.
(Rtd) Major Sulemana said most of the youth, who worked tirelessly for the party to win power, were university graduates.
“Is the president saying that none of them is qualified to be a District Chief Executive,” he quizzed.
“The DCE nominee does not live in Tolon and also not a registered voter in the area and so we will not accept her.”
The Tolon Regent warned the authorities that if they try to bring military and police to impose the DCE on the people of Tolon, he would personally come out and fight them.
The youth in the Tolon District went on a peaceful demonstration to register their displeasure with the nomination of Hajia Amama Sayibu by the President.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, NPP Chairman for Tolon, Abdulai Alhassan, said the President’s nominee only qualifies because she is a Ghanaian but fails in terms of other guidelines set by the party.
The nominee does not hail from the area, because nobody in the area knows her and she does not vote in the district, he added.
He stated that the nominee never participated in any political activity and has no political record in the district.
The Tolon Constituency Chairman of the party appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to revoke the nomination of Hajia Amama Sayibu.
