Two men standing trial over the alleged stealing and murder of a two-year-old girl at Sefwi Awaso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region have been remanded into police custody by the Bibiani District Court.

The accused persons, Sumaila Atta and Daniel Chimaobi, appeared before the court, presided over by His Worship Lord Delvin Essandoh, to answer charges in connection with the death of two-year-old Denisah Neomina.

The first accused, Sumaila Atta, is facing charges of stealing a child and murder, while his co-accused, Daniel Chimaobi, has been charged with abetting the stealing of a child and abetting murder.

Following the proceedings, the court ordered that both accused persons be remanded into police custody pending further investigations.

The court also directed the prosecutor, Detective Inspector Daniel Ansah, to ensure that the case docket was forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Department for advice.

The case has been adjourned to November 9, 2026, to allow the prosecution to comply with the court’s directive and await advice from the Attorney-General’s Department.

The alleged killing has reportedly plunged residents of Sefwi Awaso into fear and anxiety, with concerns growing over the safety of children in the community.

The two accused persons remain subject to the judicial process, and the charges against them have yet to be proven in court.
