Uhuru Kenyatta appoints New Chief Justice for Kenya

A new Chief Justice for Kenya has been appointed.

President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Justice Martha Koome as the new Chief Justice.

The National Assembly of Kenya has unanimously approved her nomination.

She was born in 1960. Justice Koome has 33 years experience in law. She is a human rights advocate.

She becomes the first woman to serve as Chief Justice in Kenya.
