The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has urged residents in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region to reject the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general election, for continuity of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
He said, “Let us go out in our numbers on December 7, 2024 to vote massively for the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidate for the country’s progress, and to secure the future of the youth and children.”
He cautioned the electorate not to make a mistake to vote for the NDC, stressing that the opposition party has planned to cancel the Free SHS policy.
The Assin Central MP was addressing a mini-rally at Gwira Banso in the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency of the region.
He stressed that the Free SHS, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes can only be safeguarded and improved under the next NPP administration.
He emphasised the critical role the educational initiatives play in the nation’s development and the future of its youth.
Mr. Agyapong noted that the Free SHS and TVET programmes were cornerstones of the country’s educational sector.
“I am telling you that NDC will cancel Free SHS. It is only the NPP that can ensure it continuity and ensure every Ghanaian child has access to quality education, regardless of their financial background. So vote for Bawumia and NPP,” he emphasised.
The Assin Central MP described the ruling NPP as the only development-oriented political party.
“Please on December 7, vote for NPP, which is the party of choice to effectively govern Ghana and ensure economic progress,” he told the people.
He promised to see to it that the poor internet connectivity and the bad road network in the area are fixed before the general election.
The NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, Catherine Abelema Afeku, urged the people to vote for the NPP and be grateful to the current government for numerous development initiatives in the area.
She mentioned the construction of male and female wards at the health facility in the area and the expansion of the area’s community shed for social events.
According to Madam Afeku, she also provided employable skills to the youth in the area, and appealed to them to vote massively for her to represent them in Parliament again.
The MP for Tarkwa, George Mireku Duker, promised the small scale miners in the area that the Bawumia-led administration will put the necessary measures in place to ensure their smooth operation.
The Chief of Gwira Banso, Nana Ette Akrade II, praised the government for the various initiatives to provide better opportunities for the youth.
