Voter Registration Ends
The Electoral Commission (EC) yesterday ended the limited voters registration exercise, which started on September 12, 2023 across the various district offices of the commission.
A statement issued and signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs of the EC, Michael Boadu, said the commission would not extend the exercise but would make arrangement for some eligible voters to register.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that the 2023 Voters Registration Exercise ends at 5:00pm today, Monday, the 2nd of October, 2023. The public is informed that the Commission will not extend the Voters Registration Exercise,” the statement indicated.
The commission, however, assured the general public of arrangement to enable eligible voters who were in the queue on or before 5:00pm yesterday to register today, Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
The commission also thanked the public for the support during the 21-day registration exercise.
Ahead of the exercise to replace lost voter ID cards, the commission stated that it has introduced an online payment portal to help eligible voters make payment for replacement of their lost ID cards.
“Dial *222*1067#, enter amount required, enter reference ( full name of the voter), transfer summary is presented, select 1 to confirm details and wait for prompt to authorise transaction or check under my approvals on *170#,” it added.
It also said applicants would receive an SMS upon successful completion of the transaction with the payment reference.
According to the EC, the introduction of the online payment portal will go a long way to facilitate a swift payment and replacement process.
