Volta River Authority (VRA) Tennis Club emerged champions of the third edition of the 2i Project Independence Day tournament after beating TOR Tennis Club in the finals at the TDC tennis Club house.
The day’s event, sponsored by 2i Project Limited, a real estate company in Tema, was supported by NVI Multi-Media, 3nity Real Estate development and Baboosports.
This year’s edition of the 2i Project Independence Day Tennis Tourney was massively patronized by tennis lovers in Tema, Accra and Akosombo.
In all 5 games played by each club, VRA beat hosts TDC tennis Club 3-2 to get to the finals while TOR Tennis Club whitewashed defending champions RMU tennis Club 4-1.
In the final game, restless efforts from Paa Kofi Grants Djimadjor, Afatsi Avege, Nana Kum( Boi Alinco) with support from Yaw Akotua did the magic for the club as they ousted TOR Tennis Club 3-2.
The winner, VRA Tennis Club, was awarded a trophy, one carton of tennis balls and an Ice chest.
Managing Director of 2i Project Limited, Patrick Addo, said the main purpose of organizing the competition was to bring all social tennis players in and around Tema together to exercise and have some fun.
He added ”I am very impressed with the level displayed especially by VRA Tennis Club.”
He later thanked visiting clubs for turning up for the tournament with great zeal and enthusiasm and promised his company will make next year’s edition even more exciting.
