The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdulfattah Ahmed Khalil Al Sattari, has urged the   international community to intensify its support against Israel to end its occupation of Gaza and other Palestinian territories.

The Ambassador, who made the call during a visit to Western Publications Limited, publishers of DAILY GUIDE newspaper and operators of GUIDE RADIO and DGN TV in Accra, described the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine as disheartening, highlighting the long-standing suffering of the Palestinian people.

He said, “We don’t need anyone to occupy our land. My people are dying, they have no shelter, no clothes, and are struggling daily to find food. We have suffered for far too long. We have lost all our houses and do not have a place to sleep in. We have lost our people and it must stop now.”

According to the Ambassador, about 67,000 Palestinians have been killed so far, with more than 200,000 injured, citing a number of journalists who have also lost their lives while attempting to report on the dire challenges facing Palestinians.

The Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the management of Western Publications for consistently using its media platforms, particularly the DAILY GUIDE newspaper and its online presence, to shed light on the plight of the Palestinian people over the years.

Ambassador Al Sattari also expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana, especially President John Mahama, for the country’s continued solidarity with Palestine, while calling on religious groups in Ghana to remember the people of Palestine in their prayers in these challenging times.

In response, the Chief Executive of Western Publications, Kwame Blay, thanked the Ambassador for his visit and assured him of the company’s continued support in telling the stories of the Palestinian people, especially the struggles faced by children affected by the conflict.

Chief News Editor of the DAILY GUIDE, A.R. Gomda, for his part, said he has over the years sympathised with the attacks on the Palestinian people, and assured the Ambassador that Ghanaians will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as he continues to pray for peace to prevail in the area.
