We Can’t Risk Ghana Into Mahama’s Hands Again – Bawumia To Ghanaians

The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a scathing attack on the leadership of John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, during his tenure as President.

While on a campaign tour in the Eastern Region on Friday, Dr Bawumia highlighted the stark contrast between the performance of the NPP and the NDC in fulfilling their manifesto promises.

Addressing chiefs, religious leaders, and a cross-section of society in the Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ayensuano, and Suhum constituencies respectively, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need for a new leader with fresh ideas and a bold vision for Ghana’s future.

He pointed out that former President John Mahama’s leadership in 2012 had failed to deliver on his promises, fulfilling only 28% of his manifesto commitments during his presidency.

Dr. Bawumia proudly stated that the NPP had fulfilled an impressive 80% of its manifesto promises in 2016, despite facing significant global economic challenges.

He urged Ghanaians to look forward to a brighter future, rather than a leader who had failed to deliver in the past.

The NPP flagbearer expressed his hope that Ghanaians would reject Mr. Mahama due to his poor performance in government.

He described the contest as a choice between himself and former President John Mahama, emphasizing that John Mahama’s work as President was not worthy of another chance to lead the country.

Dr. Bawumia also highlighted Mahama’s legacy, which he believed included years of erratic power supply, youth unemployment, and cancellation of teacher and nursing training allowances.

He argued that Ghanaians should not be made to experience these challenges again.

The NPP Leader further touted the achievements of the NPP government, including the introduction of the free senior high school policy, payment of teacher and nursing training allowances, digitization, planting for food and jobs, and the provision of one constituency, one ambulance.

He also reiterated some of his policies, which he would implement if elected President, such as investments in agriculture, equipping the chieftaincy institution to augment the government’s development agenda, job creation, and reduction in the cost of electricity through investments in solar energy.

He further emphasized that the 2024 election was a choice between himself and John Mahama and urged Ghanaians to vote for him to continue the good works of the NPP government.

Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that, with the support of the Ghanaian people, he would emerge victorious in the election.
