‘We Know What Is Expected Of Us’

Ghana Forward, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, says he and his colleagues are very much aware of expectations of Ghanaians in the ongoing AFCON.

He said the team understood Ghanaians frustrations after the Morocco loss, but pleaded with fans to tone down their bashing on social media.

To him, such negative criticisms have a way of crushing spirits of some of his teammates.

But he singled out himself as a player who is mentally tough and consider negative social media comments as a ‘wake up call’ to step up his game.

He told the media at yesterday’s press conference that, “We know what is at stake and what is expected of us.

“Morocco is past, we are now concentrating on Gabon.”

He added, “The agenda is to get to the final. We understand the frustrations of Ghanaians, as a football nation, they expect so much from us.

“We the strikers will make an impact tomorrow.

“I am honoured to be compared to a great player like Asamoah Gyan, but it takes consistency to achieve what he achieved, injury has been a bane of my career.”
