We Remember ‘Dumsor’ – Bawumia Pokes NDC

VICE PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made mockery of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) ambition of winning the next national elections.

He said the NDC’s mismanagement in political office, which resulted in severe hardship and electricity crisis, also known as ‘dumsor’, is still fresh in the minds of Ghanaians.

In this regard, the Vice President, who sounded like a prophet of doom, boldly predicted an embarrassing defeat for the NDC in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

He was speaking at a mammoth political rally of the NPP, held at Kumawu, in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, ahead of today’s by-election to elect a new MP for Kumawu.

Dr. Bawumia, who sounded sarcastic, said the NDC lacked the competence and human resource to implement better policies and programmes to transform the country.

According to him, during the NDC’s tenure in political office, the country was virtually plunged into the abyss, as hardship beyond measure became the order of the day.

The Vice President, who was beaming with smiles even as he delivered his message, said the citizenry would never replace the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government with the incompetent NDC.

“Ghanaians still remember your ‘dumsor’, which crippled businesses and deepened the financial troubles of the people, and they would never vote for the NDC again.

“We don’t want to go back to your ‘Akomfem’ (Guinea fowl) days, therefore we shall reject the NDC and its presidential candidate again in 2024,” he indicated.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the NDC administration stagnated the country’s progress for eight years and it has taken the NPP six years to restore hope to the country.

“The NDC cancelled teacher and nursing training allowance but we have worked hard to restore it to help improve the finances of the trainee teachers and nurses.

“They couldn’t do the Ghana Card but we have done it with ease and it has played significant roles to accelerate national development. NPP is taking Ghana to digital age,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia also talked about the Zongo Development Fund and other social intervention programmes, introduced by the NPP administration to better the lives of the masses.

Under the NDC government, he said, they were able to construct just two factories but the NPP, under Nana Akufo-Addo has built over 150 factories in six years.

On the Kumawu by-election, Dr. Bawumia urged the people of Kumawu to vote massively for Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP candidate, to lead the constituency into affluence.

“Ernest Yaw Anim is very intelligent, humble and hardworking young man, who has the wherewithal to lead Kumawu to the Promised Land so vote for him,” he said.
