We’ll Win 80% Votes In Tema

MEMBERS OF the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema Metropolis of the Greater Accra Region say it plans to secure 80 percent of total votes in the area to ensure victory for the party in the coming general elections.

According to the party members, they will double the votes’ margin in each of the three constituencies in Tema, namely Tema West, East and Central to ensure that the presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the three parliamentary candidates capture at least 80 percent of the total votes cast.

Kweku Osei Bonsu, Chairman of the pro-opposition group, Coalition to Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB) made the declaration during a health screening exercise the group organised in Tema Community 1 site 1.

According to him, the party was aware of schemes to deprive Mr. Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover, Member of Parliament for Tema East of the seat “but the people of Tema know the capabilities of their current MP.”

“I recalled that during the last elections, our sitting MP for Tema East, Mr. Titus Glover beat the NDC candidate with only three votes but we are saying that the figures will change this year. Again, the votes’ margin in Tema Central and Tema West will be doubled,’’ he stated.

He indicated that CENAB is working very hard on the grounds by embarking on a door to door campaign to explain to the electorates why they should vote for NPP.

Aside the campaign, Mr Bonsu disclosed that the group had also outlined a series of social intervention programmes to ensure they achieve their aim.

He explained the rationale behind the health screening exercise saying “there is no way the party’s quest to obtain 80% of the votes could be achieved if the electorates are not healthy therefore we need to ensure they are healthy to vote out the incompetent President John Dramani Mahama.”

He passionately appealed to the electorates to vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo–Addo to restore the country onto sound economic footing.
