The overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa Sulemana Jakpa I, has described President Akufo-Addo as a visionary and courageous leader.
The Yagbonwura stated that for about four decades, the Gonjaland’s petition for their own region was not heeded until the coming of president Nana Akufo-Addo who created the Savannah region.
He said “I am reliably informed that you slept in Damongo last night , this is historic because this is the first time that a sitting president spent the night on the soil of Gonjaland”.
According to him, the President’s tour of the various regions and particularly the Gonjaland was a testimony that he was a President for the people and with the people.
He noted that “you promised during your campaign that you will not be an armchair president but you will interact with the citizenry in their localities.”
The Yagbonwura commended the president for government’s pro-poor policies which seeks to alleviate poverty.
He thanked the president for the numerous developmental projects in Gonjaland, adding that the region has received its share of the national cake.
Yagbonwura urged government to take advantage of the mineral deposits discovered in the Gonjaland and its environs.
On Chieftaincy issues, he said steps have been taken to ensure that there was peace in the Gonjaland for rapid development.
