In a bid to revolutionize agriculture and create employment opportunities for young Ghanaians, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has taken delivery of over 100,000 essential farming tools from the Ministry of Agriculture.
This initiative is part of the YEA’s Youth in Agriculture program, which aims to empower young farmers and make farming an attractive and viable career path.
The tools, which include machetes, chemical spraying machines, goggles, boots, uniforms, gloves, and more, will be distributed to over 52,000 young Ghanaians who applied for the program.
This move is expected to boost agricultural productivity and enhance the livelihoods of young farmers across the country.
The YEA’s Youth in Agriculture program was launched in 2020, with the goal of creating jobs and empowering young people to venture into agriculture.
The program has since gained momentum, with thousands of young Ghanaians benefiting from training, mentorship, and resources.
Despite the challenging weather conditions this year, the YEA has successfully completed land mechanization in the Ashanti, Eastern, and Bono regions.
This sets the stage for a prosperous planting season and demonstrates the agency’s commitment to supporting young farmers.
In addition to those in the Youth in Agriculture module, the agency is extending these resources to young farmers and farming cooperatives across every district in Ghana.
This initiative is part of the YEA’s broader effort to create jobs, empower young people, and make farming an attractive and viable career path.
According to the YEA, this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the agricultural sector, which is a significant contributor to Ghana’s economy.
