Zimbabwe President Visits Ghana

The Government is set to host President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, on a three-day state visit from today, Wednesday April 1 to Friday, April 3 2026, to deepen bilateral relations between the two nations.

A statement signed by Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, disclosed that President Mnangagwa will arrive at the Accra International Airport today, and will be formally received by President John Dramani Mahama with full military honours.

The visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties between Accra and Harare, as well as open new pathways for cooperation in rapidly evolving global landscape.

The visit will also include bilateral talks at Peduase Lodge, preceded by a tête-à-tête between the two Heads of State, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation across critical sectors, including trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, the fight against corruption, and job creation.

The engagements are expected to come to an end with the signing and exchange of Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of mutual interest to show a renewed commitment to closer collaboration.

A ceremonial welcome for President Emmerson Mnangagwa will include an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.

He will further be hosted by President Mahama in the evening, for a State Banquet to emphasise on the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

During his visit, President Mnangagwa will tour key institutions in Ghana including the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC), to be briefed on advancements in healthcare delivery, and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, which showcases innovations in waste management.

He will further visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, to pay tribute to his legacy.

President Mnangagwa is expected to depart Ghana on Friday, April 3, with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge, which will bring the state visit to a close.
