The late Mohammed Baba Alhassan

Alhaji Mohammed Baba Alhassan aka Teacher, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zongo Development Fund has passed on.

The former Headmaster of the Ghana Lebanon Islamic Senior High School (GLISS), Circle in Accra, passed on at the 37 Military Hospital last Friday where he was rushed to after he fell ill.

He was appointed by President Akufo-Addo as the CEO of the Zongo Development Fund, an appointment which he held until his transition.

A darling of many parents in Nima and Accra Newtown whose children having passed through his hands when he headed the GLISS.

Before his appointment he was elevated to the status of Director of the school; his insistence on discipline having played a crucial role in the education of many a Zongo youth, some of them now holders of masters degree in various disciplines.

He vied for the East Ayawaso Constituency seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012 and has not relented in his contributions towards the fortunes of the party at Nima and beyond.

He had his first degree at the University of Cape Coast and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Ghana, Legon. 

His remains were flown to Wenchi for burial on Saturday after the special prayer for the dead which was officiated by the National Chief Imam.

In another development, the death has been reported on the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the 2008 election and one-time senior official of the National Idenification Authority (NIA) during the Kufuor administration, Alhaji Baba Salisu, which sad incident occurred last Saturday.
