2020 Budget: Minority Files Motion Against Joe Wise Ruling

Information available to DGN Online indicates that the Minority in Parliament of Ghana has filed a motion challenging the ruling of First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislators expressed in the motion that the sit-in Speaker’s ruling throwing out their rescission motion is an affront to the rules and procedures of the House.

Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 is praying the House to set aside the purported ruling of the First Deputy Speaker, “on grounds that it contravenes the rules, conventions and practices of the House and was actuated by bias.”

Interestingly, the 5 issues raised by the Minority about the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy including sea defense for the Keta and Anlo area have been taken care of by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

This has left a section of Ghanaians wondering the interest of the Minority side.

As per the procedures of the House, the motion will be only tabled before the House for debate and consideration after 48-hours has elapsed.

Already, the Minority Leader served notice that his side in Parliament will file a motion to challenge the conduct of the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu.
