Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has lauded the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) program, citing its remarkable achievement of transitioning 34,000 beneficiaries into permanent employment.
This milestone, he emphasized, demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering Ghanaian youth and addressing unemployment.
Speaking during a media engagement on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia reflected on NABCo’s inception in 2018, aimed at providing temporary employment for 100,000 young graduates across various sectors.
He noted that the program’s success has exceeded expectations, with beneficiaries gaining valuable work experience and skills training.
Dr. Bawumia’s praise for NABCo comes amidst his presidential campaign, highlighting his administration’s achievements in youth employment and development.
He underscored the program’s impact on reducing unemployment, enhancing employability, and driving economic growth.
However, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the challenges faced by beneficiaries, including delayed allowance payments.
He assured that efforts are underway to address these arrears, having raised the issue with the Finance Ministry.
This is not Dr. Bawumia’s first endorsement of NABCo.
In 2020, he praised the program’s innovative approach to addressing youth unemployment, citing its potential to drive economic growth.
