An Accra Circuit Court has remanded into custody a 67-year-old private security man for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old minor at Adenta in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, Ibrahim Musah aka Uncle Kpefe according to police lives in the same house with the victim’s aunt and because of his relation with them, occasionally sends the victim on errands.
He is aid to have sent the victim to buy him sachet water and took advantage of the situation and forcefully had sex with her somewhere last year.
Since then, the accused reportedly has been having sex with the victim, warning her not to tell anyone about it.
The victim, however, could not for some months menstruate and when queried by the aunt, she narrated her ordeal.
The victim was confirmed to be three months pregnant after a police medical form was issued for her to be taken to the hospital.
Ibrahim Musah was therefore hauled before the court for defiling a child under the age of 16 to which he pleaded not guilty.
Asked by the court whether he was aware the victim was pregnant, he said no. The presiding judge said a DNA test would be conducted on the baby after it had been delivered to confirm if he was the father.
The case has been adjourned to April 3, 2018.
DSP Adolphine Dzansi told the court that the suspect had a good relationship with the victim’s aunt and usually sends the victim on errands.
She said on the day he defiled the victim, he had sent her to buy him sachet water and when she brought the water, he pushed her onto his bed and forcefully had sex with her and warned her not to tell anybody about it.
She said the victim out of fear kept it to herself and the suspect took advantage of that to have sex with the victim on many occasions.
DSP Dzansi told the court that one day the victim’s aunt quizzed her about her last menstruation and the victim said it was in December last year. It was then that the victim narrated her ordeal.
The aunt then reported the matter to the police and a police medical form was issued and after a test, it was confirmed that the victim was three months pregnant.
The suspect was later arrested.
