When pushing turns to shoving and shoving to fisticuffs and the apple cart is turned upside down, the owner of Montie FM, Mr. Harry Zakour will pack bag and baggage and run away to Lebanon, his original home country to cool off with his family. Even though the man might be holding documents which he can show to prove that he has naturalized, nothing keeps him from denouncing his citizenship and thereafter run away to Lebanon to enjoy his booty. In fact, when the kitchen becomes too hot and the country is in turmoil, he has a choice but full blooded Ghanaians will have no choice but to run away to neighboring countries to become refugees.
When war breaks out, Ghanaians, particularly poor women and children will be the losers. The sad aspect of this scenario is that apart from the Atlantic Ocean which lies south of the country Ghana is surounded by francophone countries. We have Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the East and Ivory Coast in the West. Since a great number of Ghanaians do not speak French, refugees from Ghana to these countries will find it difficult to live there. The best place that Ghanaian refugees can run to hide is Nigeria which is an Anglophone country. Even in Nigeria, Boko Haram and the Avengers in Ogooni are threats. Harry Zakour is a man who set up a radio station solely to run down the standard flagbearer of the NPP and he thinks he is doing a good job for Mr. John Mahama. What this quarter-cast doesn’t know is that his plan has seriously backfired because the more Mugabi and his crooks try to vilify Nana Addo, the more sympathy Nana gets from the good people of Ghana.
When Mr. Zakour got the frequency with the main agenda to use it to disgrace Nana Addo, he knew no decent Ghanaian will accept his invitation to insult Nana Addo on daily basis because all Ghanaians know the pedigree of Nana Addo. That was why he flew in this half-wit called Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe to do the dirty job for him. Salifu told us that all his children and wife are living somewhere in the UK so he doesn’t care what happens in Ghana. If Harry Zakour thinks he can stir the Hornet’s nest and run away to Lebanon, he is deceiving himself. The Interpol will bring him down to face justice in Ghana if the country goes up in flames through his misguided zeal. Is this Lebanese turned Ghanaian aware that more than five million Ghanaians voted for Nana Addo during the 2012 general elections and that Nana still has large followers?
One person who has disappointed me is Mr. Ato Ahwoi who is one of the directors of Montie FM. This is a gentleman I admire so much but sadly he has disappointed me. From the PNDC era to date, Mr. Ahwoi worked so much to earn the respect of Ghanaians. He is not the insulting type and his demeanor shows that he is cultured. Like his brothers, Kwamena Ahwoi and Kwasi Ahwoi, one can put his hand in fire and swear the mighty oath of Asantehene that their hands are clean. The three brothers helped in no small way to prop up Rawlings’ regime and nurtured the NDC to become what it is today. Mr. Ahwoi cannot tell me that he has never been listening to this Mugabe guy. All along I was expecting Mr. Ahwoi to rein in this half-baked journalist. Unlike Harry Zakour who has no visibility and recognition in relevant quarters as far as politics in Ghana is concerned, Mr. Ato Ahwoi is a hard nut to crack. His plea at the Supreme Court the other day was quite good but he should not have allowed this crook called Mugabe to muddy the waters in the first place.
Since this boy started his nonsense, all well meaning Ghanaians have been kicking against his uncouth utterances. Ghanaians know very well that an attack on one gentleman is an attack on all. The boy is to terror as mafia is to crime. Because he couldn’t make it in the UK, his main goal since he came down is to make money. Such failures will do everything to survive in these hard times. And because his tomfoolery inures to the benefit of Mr. Mahama, the man has kept quiet. Somebody should tell this guy that because of the task ahead, some of us will not waste our precious time on him when comes out of Nsawam prison to start his foolishness and we will meet his insults with patient justice because we are confident of the victory to come. And in the morning after the victory, he will curse the day he was born.
The sages were right when they said no condition is permanent. For now the pendulum is swinging right so Harry Zakour and the likes of Salifu can do whatever they want. Let them use their Montie radio to vilify and take Nana Addo and others who oppose the NDC to the cleaners. When the pendulum starts to swing left they will know that a new Pharaoh who has come to Egypt does not know Joseph. Salifu can continue to play the buffoonery when he comes out from prison because he is a nonentity and too young to know the repercussions of civil strife. But Harry Zakour who has lived in this country all this while and who is old enough to know the difference between the wheat and chaff, should know better.
Braggarts Turn Jailbirds
I knew it will come to this. I knew these goons will go to jail. Mugabe and his fellow fickle-minded panelists will now spend four months in jail and thereafter, come out as ex-convicts. I doff my hat for the Supreme Court judge. There is this maxim in law which says “Fiat justitia ruat caelum”. This is a Latin legal phrase meaning “let justice be done though the heavens fall.” This maxim signifies the belief that justice must be realized regardless of the consequences. NDC sympathizers can go and burn the sea if they think the sentencing is too harsh. Mugabe and his fellow rabble-rousers had the funny feeling that because they were working for President Mahama they were untouchable. Her Lordship, Sophia Akufo has made it clear that not even the president can control judges.
So now that the Supreme Court has spoken so loudly, what are the NDC supporters who have been gathering at the forecourt of the Supreme Court to support these irresponsible boys, saying again? Upstarts like the Muntie trio threatened the lives of Supreme Court judges and when they were hauled before the apex court to show why they should not be jailed for contempt, the NDC shamelessly organized goons to support them. And when journalists went to cover the story which is so juicy, the same NDC goons attacked them. What these goons did not know was that they compounded the woes of the three contemnors. The arrogance of these NDC supporters might have infuriated the judges and so the judges looked into the faces of the three and said: “Go to jail”!!
These guys are young and the sky would have been their limit if they had tarried small. Some of them could be parliamentarians in future but as it stands now, the distance between them and the parliament house is like from Ghana to China. Article 94 Clause 5 of Ghana’s Constitution states that after being incarcerated, an ex-convict cannot become a parliamentarian until ten years have elapsed. Again such ex-convicts cannot mount any throne or skin in Ghana, irrespective of the traditional area the person comes from. As for the GH¢10,000 that the apex court slapped on each of them as a fine, I am sure by now the NDC gurus have paid because the Akans say if you send a child to fetch water with an earthen pot and she breaks the pot, you don’t beat the child. They assigned the boys to do the dirty work and so it is they who will pay. And looking at the way they have looted the nation’s coffers, the fine is just a peanut for them.
Mr. Harry Zakour has been fined GH¢30,000 and that too is a peanut because he will just drive to the Flagstaff House and receive a cheque to pay the fine. But for four months, the Montie kpokpogbligbli men will spend their time at the Nsawam prison alone. If they are not lucky and they find themselves in a cell where some NPP supporters are, they will be made to carry shit everyday for insulting their idol, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. Mugabe was always happy to call people ex-convicts. He even had a list of his so-called ex-convicts which he has been mentioning on air. Today, he is on the way to becoming an ex-convict in a matter of four months. You see how God works in mysterious ways?
What I don’t want to hear till I die is to hear somebody referring to me as “Irresponsible” because I have all the traits of a complete gentleman. Justice Sophia Akufo referred to Mr. Harry Zakour as an irresponsible person and that to me is very painful. Listen to how my Webster’s Dictionary of Contemporary English defined irresponsible: “Acting or done without due sense of responsibility.” Good Lord!
And did I hear some NDC lawyers saying the sentencing of the Montie trio is too harsh and that we are in election year? Lawyers indeed! When somebody threatens the precious lives of citizens and he is jailed four months, you, a lawyer sits somewhere and says the sentence is too harsh? In her ruling, Justice Sophia Akufo pointed out that there is an element of criminality in their utterances which the Attoney-Genral should have noticed and acted upon. To me, this is an indictment on the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. Do these lawyers understand the sentencing policy of the courts? That is why Justice Sophia said not even the president can control judges. I rest my case for now while I fly into the firmament where angels dwell.
