THE AGYEMAN-Badu I Park
THE AGYEMAN-Badu I Park at Dormaa Ahenkro, the home grounds of Aduana Stars, is set to experience massive changes, very soon.
Plans are far advanced by the club to give the facility a facelift, which would make the mini stadium one of a kind in the country.
Club owner, Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area, made the positive announcement recently.
He disclosed that the stadium’s capacity would be increased to 5,000, which would enable the facility to host continental games.
Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II said Aduana Stars winning of the just ended league influenced his decision to transform the stadium.
“Aduana Stars will be playing in the Africa Champions League next season and we want to use this facility to play out home games.
“In this regard, we have started works to upgrade the stadium’s capacity and infrastructure so that we can play our home matches here.”
The Dormaahene said the facility’s capacity would increase to 5000 and a new scoreboard and floodlights would also be fixed at the stadium.
He disclosed that 1000 bags of cement and ¢46,000 worth of iron rods have been moved to the construction site already.
The traditional leader indicated that when completed, the ultra-modern stadium would also boast of a doping center, among other facilities.
Club CEO, Albert Yahaya Commey said “Work has already begun at the stadium because we have signed on a contractor and we have given him the sitting capacity that we want.
“I will have to go and do a follow up because the contractor has 45 days to complete the grassing of the field. We want to expand and see how we can use it, so we are very optimistic before we start our Africa campaign, we will be ready to host other teams.
“We will be playing both international and local matches to make sure the players will be ready to face the big guns without difficulty.
“If, indeed, we want to make a mark, then there is a need for us to work hard because the players need to know the challenge ahead of us,” he added.
Aduana have signed a contract with Amasco Consult to upgrade the Agyeman-Badu Park.
