Apostle Paul Thiombiano
Christians in the Upper East Region marked this year’s Easter by holding various conventions.
Most of the preachers touched on the effects of polarization and corruption on the development of Ghana and its youth.
Christians from all walks of life learnt lessons from the sermons on the sacrifice and selflessness of Jesus Christ.
In Bawku, the Living Waters Community Chapel International held a four-day Easter Convention during which the General Overseer, Apostle Paul Thiombiano charged Christians to serve as change agents in their families, workplaces, communities and meeting places.
“If Christians, having heard the story of Jesus Christ over and over, will practice what our leader and saviour did, many of the crimes we hear of wouldn’t have happened.”
He admonished Christians to refrain from all forms of corruption, as well as other vices that do not promote national unity and also affect the growth and development of the country.
The convention of the Living Waters Community Chapel was under the theme, ‘Destroying Evil Altars.’
Some members and guests from the United States of American (USA) were in attendance.
A pastor from the USA branch of the church, Rev. Richard Maher, entreated Christians to adhere to the Easter message and love their neighbours and country.
At Bukere in the Bolgatanga Municipality, members of the Church of Pentecost converged on the Awogeya Basic School Park to listen to the Easter sermon.
This year, the church honoured some members who worked to woo more people to Christ.
A 77-year-old man, Baba Lucky, received a tricycle for his role in increasing the membership of the church.
The Bolgatanga Area Pastor, Apostle Wilberforce Kwame Nkrumah, asked Christians to constantly read their Bibles and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
