Reggae dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in the entertainment industry as Stonebwoy, has urged managers of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to consider the creative arts industry as part of the modules implemented by the agency in its newly introduced Job Centre initiative.
Speaking at the launch of the YEA Job Centre at the Bank of Ghana auditorium at the University of Ghana, the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) reggae dancehall artiste of the year said there are a lot of opportunities at the creative arts industry that can help curb graduate unemployment if given the needed attention.
Using himself as an example, he indicated that to get him moving, he has employed about 10 people who take care of other activities of his brand as an artiste, adding that the 10 do not include his management and production crew.
He has, therefore, urged the agency to look at the creative arts sector and bring them unto the Job Centre platform.
The YEA Job Centre is an online job portal to boost employment opportunities in Ghana for both employers and the teeming youth who are seeking decent jobs.
The Job Centre is meant to bring together job seekers and employers in both the formal and informal sector unto a common platform to explore job opportunities.
According to Stonebwoy, while all the modules in the Job Centre initiative are good, the agency must also look at other means.
He pleaded with the politicians not to politicise the initiative.
