VICE PRESIDENT Mahamudu Bawumia says the country’s industrialisation agenda, the brainchild of President Akufo-Addo, is still intact.

According to him, the President, upon assumption of office in 2017, set out a clear plan to industrialise the country and accelerate development through revamping and modernising Technical and Vocational Educational and Training Centers (TVET).

The Vice President indicated that the government’s decision to construct 32 TVET institutions across the 16 regions of the country, was an indication that the industrialisation agenda was on course.

He was speaking at a sod cutting ceremony in the Bosomtwe District town of Abrankese in the Ashanti Region on Monday to officially kick-start the establishment of 32 TVET centers.

“At least two state-of-the-art centers will be established as part of the government’s efforts to advance the industrialisation agenda in the country,” the Vice President announced, attracting wild applause.

According to him, it is the goal and ambition of President Akufo-Addo to make Ghana a world class center for skills development and a leading country in TVET education.

The Vice President also pointed out that the government believes that the training of more technical and vocational brains would make it easier for industries to get the right people to employ for prompt delivery.

“In the world of work today, skills is what matters most. It is not certificates anymore, it is more about skills,” Dr. Bawumia indicated, reiterating that government’s industrialisation agenda is on course.

Touching on the 32 TVET centers to be constructed in the country in three phases, with two for each region, he stated that the NPP government is correctly keeping its promise that it firmly made to the citizenry.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the small number of  vocational and technical skills graduates has been the bane of the country for many years, stressing that the NPP administration wants to change the trend.

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, on his part, stated that the NPP government has introduced several policies and programmes to improve the lives of the youth, who are the future leaders.

Education Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum also heaped tons of praises on Dr. Bawumia for his tireless efforts and hard work to improve lives and accelerate national transformation, urging him to sustain his good works.
