President Akufo-Addo exchanging pleasantries with Archbishop Emeritus Justice Ofei Akrofi (right), Anglican Bishop of Accra after the church service at the Jubilee House
President Akufo-Addo was blessed to have the Anglican Bishop of Asante-Mampong, Most Reverend Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith to pray for him yesterday morning.
This was part of events to mark his 79th birthday which fell last week Wednesday when he was out of the country attending a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York, US.
At a special prayer and church service held in his honour at the Jubilee House (presidency), the man of God asked the President to keep faith with God as he seeks a lasting solution to the myriad of issues confronting the nation.
Quoting from the Psalm 103:1 and 2 which says; “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within bless his holy name. [2] Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” ask the President to agree with the writer of the Psalm, (King David), who refers to God as Lord (which is translated as Adonia) acknowledging that all his life depends on the very giver of life, who is the Lord.
“Your Excellency, let us continue to look up to Him, let us continue to lean on Adonia, let us continue to listen to Him and He is with” was his charge.
That, he said was because “He is the Lord of life. He is the only one, none other. He is the only one, He has no competition, He has no competitor, He is the only one. Let us continue to be obedient and to offer ourselves wholly and unconditionally for direction and favor” the Anglican Archbishop further stated in his sermon.
Present at the service were the First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, and Chief of Staff at the Office of the President Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, among others.
