Mahama Excited Over Kobea Support

Former President John Dramani Mahama has praised businessman, Ernest Kwaku Kobea, who had intended to run for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership, for his support to his bid.

Mr. Kobea, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UK-based City Experts Limited Group, recently announced he had pulled out of the NDC presidential race in a letter dated on Wednesday, March 29 to the party’s leadership.

He stated that he entered the race to open up opportunities and set a positive example for young people not to back down from challenges.

The sewage system specialist has since thrown his weight behind ex-President Mahama after visiting him at his residence.

“Thank you, Ernest Kobea, for your magnanimity in offering me your support to lead our great party, the NDC, to the 2024 elections,” Mr. Mahama said in a statement posted on Facebook.

He described as admirable the aspirant’s decision to withdraw from the competition even after paying the contest’s filing fees in full.

“Your decision to step down from the contest, even after paying in full the filing fees pegged for the contest is exemplary,” he stressed, praying, “May the NDC get better and stronger.”

Meanwhile, the ex-President and his two challengers, former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu, have been cleared by the party to compete in the NDC presidential primary on May 13, 2023.
