A flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has visited Kumawu to express condolences to the family of the late Member of Parliament for the constituency, Phillip Atta Basoah.

Mr Kyerematen, who described the late MP as his younger brother, said the death of Philip Basoah was troubling and that he was completely aware of the late MP’s activities.

“I fully understand the hurts and sadness in this house, in the NPP, and throughout the country,” Mr Kyerematen said. “But I just want you to know that God allowed this to happen, and I pray that he finds a way to console all of us.”

The late MP’s elder brother and family head, Lawyer AsieduBasoah, expressed gratitude to Mr. Kyerematen for making the effort to visit and comfort the family, particularly the distraught mother and Kumawu residents.

He observed that the death of the late Philip Basoah was a huge blow to the family, and that they were still trying to come to terms with it.

He mentioned that the late MP’s one-week traditional rites would be performed on April 27th.

“The family has met and decided that the one-week ceremony should be held on April 27, 2023, and we believe that by that time we would have settled on the final date for our late brother and MP’s burial and funeral,” the family’s head said.

Former MP for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, who is the Ashanti Regional Coordinator for Alan Kyerematen Campaign, told the media that the late lawmaker was his brother.

According to him, the late Philip Basoah dedicated himself to the service of the NPP and his constituency at the cost of his health.
