The bus after the accident
TWO PEOPLE are reported dead after a cement mixer suddenly dislodged from a truck and collided with an oncoming SsangYong bus.
The unfortunate crash, the paper gathered, happened at Akumadan in the Offinso North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
It’s the second crash in the area in just 72 hours. In the first crash, a tipper truck and a tricycle collided head on, killing three people, including a pregnant woman.
“Saturday’s accident happened when a truck carrying a cement mixer was navigating from the Nkenkensu main road toward the Local Government University construction site.
“The cement mixer, suddenly dislodged from the truck and collided with an oncoming SsangYong bus,” an eyewitness disclosed to the paper.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the crash attracted a sizable number of curious people to the area.
People who were trapped in the mangled bus after the collision were rescued and sent to the hospital, the eyewitnesses disclosed.
The paper also learnt that it was at the hospital where two people were confirmed dead. Other passengers on the bus who sustained body injurieswere also hospitalised.
