It Was Dumsor!

“What is the truth?” – The timeless question to the Lord Jesus Christ by Pontius Pilate

“Mention just one poverty intervention programme that your government introduced after ruling the country for eight years” – The disturbing challenge of Dr. Bawumia to Mr. Mahama.

In 1992 when George Bush Snr. was in power in the US, the country experienced economic recession. The government worked so hard to salvage the situation until it was time for another electioneering campaign.  Bill Clinton, a Democrat, was chosen as a flagbearer to challenge Bush.  The Democrats seized the opportunity to campaign on the economic recession, knowing very well that it was not the fault of the government neither was it any mismanagement of the economy.

As the Bush campaign team was talking about the risk of undocumented migrants to America which had compounded the suffering of the people of America, the campaign team of Bill Clinton said, “It is about the economy, stupid.”  To the people of America, the statement was no big deal because their culture allows the use of such filthy words like, “bullshit”, “Mother Fucker”, “Son of a bitch”. “Damn shit”“fuck you” etc.  The Ghanaian culture abhors the use of such filthy words and our elders frown at the use of them.  Only ghetto boys can use such words at their hideouts after going high on hard drugs.

In the case of Ghana, incompetence, corruption coupled with carelessness led to the country going through Dumsor for close to four years, leading to the laying off of workers; collapse of factories leading to the sky rocking of unemployment, particularly Cold Stores and more serious; the death of patients on the operation table due to the lack of light for surgeons to operate on the poor patients.  The NPP inherited this mess and barely two years, things started to change. If today, Dumsor is no more, the issue is not about the economy which is being experienced by the countries the world over but in the case of Ghana, it is Dumsor, Idiot!

I decided to treat the continuous insults and balderdash of Mr. Mahama but it seems it has become his trade mark so this time he deserves to reap what he has been sowing all these years.  After all, he has no monopoly over the use of filthy words.  It is time to spit fire so that he would keep his distance anytime his mouth is filled with rot. The Akans say if someone kicks you and you fail to kick him back, he may think you have shorter legs.

You see, we have some presidential habits which every aspiring president or sitting president should adopt and weigh his words carefully before opening his mouth.  Not so with Mr. Mahama who had been a Vice President, President and held so many positions in Ghana and yet deliberately or intentionally continue to speak like the truck pusher at Bole.  For now he is too old to be whipped into line.  Did they not say one cannot straighten a smoked fish?

This is a man who continues to use words like “silly”, “foolish”, “stupid”, “nonsense”, “baloney”, “senseless” among other unprintable words which should not come out of the mouth of a statesman.  Sometime ago when the NDC was in power and policemen arrested Kennedy Agyapong for threatening the people of the Volta Region, and was charged with treason, the former president of Ghana, Mr. Agyekum Kufuor, said what the NDC did was like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. This was how John Mahama replied the fine gentleman, “We will rather use a bulldozer to kill the fly.” Habba!

About two years ago, Dr. Bawumia asked Mr. Mahama to mention just one poverty intervention programme that his government introduced after ruling the country for eight years.  For the past two years, Mr. Mahama has not been able to answer that simple question. As Mr. Mahama kept calling Dr. Bawumia a liar, the meek Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP challenged Mr. Mahama to come for a debate to prove to him that he is not a liar, but Mahama and his hotheaded team refused.  Instead of debating Dr. Bawumia to prove his allegation that Bawumia is a liar, he recently stood at the touchline to throw stones on the field of play. To Mr. Mahama, using insults to reply questions is the best way out.

As Dr. Bawumia goes around explaining his digitalisation policy which is yielding fruits to the joy of Ghanaians and mentioning numerous projects the government of the NPP has executed, Mahama goes around talking about distributing day-old chicks and piglets for Ghanaians to rear and make money.  You ask him to explain his 24-hour economy and he mentions discotheques, prostitutes and vulcanisers working 24-hours a day.

I was one of those who took Mr. Mahama on when he said Ghanaians were shortsighted and forgetful because he should have said some Ghanaians were shortsighted and forgetful but not to lump all of us together.  Indeed, some Ghanaians are shortsighted and forgetful.  Either than that why should some supporters of the NDC clap for Mahama when he said he will continue with the free SHS and even add private schools to the programme?

Has Mahama forgotten that he told Ghanaians that if he had eight billion Ghana Cedis he will not waste it on free SHS?  And has he forgotten that he was among the crowd who danced to the song composed to bastardise the free SHS titled   “free Education 419”?  Was it not the NDC who told Ghanaians that free SHS could become possible after 20 years?  Was it not loud mouth Okudzeto Ablakwa who told Ghanaians  that free SHS will collapse in a matter of five years because there will be no money to execute the programme?.  Was it not the same Mahama who said free SHS was a scam?  What has changed?

The guy has madness embedded in his stomach.  Maybe he has no shame in his lexicon.  Defeat is staring at his face so he has gone haywire and confused. The Pantang Psychiatrist Hospital is in Accra where he lives so he should book an appointment with a psychiatrist to check his brain.  To add insult to injury, his wife is walking with a twisted waist and as such she cannot be active as she was in 2020 while Hajia Samira is sprinting like a lioness chasing a prey on the campaign trail.  Two troubles, one God.  May be that is why many of his people have abandoned his campaign and minding their own business. Full stop!!!
