In a statement released on Saturday, the Headmaster of St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, Rev. Fr. Patriek-Godfred Appiah, PhD, categorically denied reports of food shortage at the school.
The statement comes amidst widespread rumors that students at the college were not being fed properly due to lack of food items.
According to the statement, the college has received substantial supplies of food items from the National Buffer Stock Company on multiple occasions this month, including November 4th, 9th, 13th, 19th, and 21st.
These deliveries have ensured that the college’s warehouse is well-stocked with all necessary food items.
The Headmaster’s statement also highlighted the dedication of the kitchen staff, who continued to prepare meals for students despite the recent strike by members of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU).
The college expressed its appreciation to the Central Regional Director of Education, who visited the school on November 20th to encourage the Matron and her team to maintain their efforts.
This development comes as a welcome relief to parents and stakeholders, who had been concerned about the welfare of students at the college.
The Free SHS policy, implemented by the government, has been a significant factor in the recent challenges faced by schools in Ghana.
However, St. Augustine’s College has assured all stakeholders of its commitment to transparency and invited anyone with concerns to visit the school for firsthand information.
