THE CHARTERED Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has announced that it is collaborating with the government to develop a sustainable strategy to position Ghana as an export driven economy to its global audiences.
Speaking at the launch of the 36th CIMG Annual National Marketing Performance Awards, CIMG President, Michael Abbiw stated that during the inauguration of the institute’s Governing Council, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, charged the new leadership to champion brand Ghana hence.
“In this spirit, we are proud to announce that CIMG, in collaboration with government, will be developing a sustainable strategy for branding Ghana. This includes positioning our nation as an export-driven economy,” he said.
Mr. Abbiw added that the Minister recognised that CIMG holds the unique neutrality, technical expertise, and the trust required to lead this agenda across both public and private sectors, adding, “in a subsequent meeting with the Chief of Staff earlier this month, we reaffirmed this mandate and secured his full support.”
In order to bring the vision to life, Mr. Abbiw proposed the immediate formation of the Brand Ghana Council, a multi-stakeholder body to provide leadership, coordination, and oversight for all branding efforts.
“Ghana’s brand must not rise and fall with changing governments. It must endure. It must be protected. It must be elevated consistently. “We are ready to assist the government in any capacity to position Ghana” he said.
